Content- Solution to all Misery

Rizal could see the next course of actions he was going to take. He could see what he had to do, how it was to be done, and what it's implications would be, if executed properly. The daunting stint of analyzing his past was ringing over his head. He could sense the requisite for such an ordeal is never possibly in his reach. Yet, he needed some more TIME to accumulate in him the necessary strength and mental stamina.
"I can, I will" was the only thought in his head.

It is in these times that soul needs solace. And it devours on any kind of writing, or whatsoever, with a philosophical touch. The soul gets solace, and gives us motivation, (or sometimes, demotivation even.) Similar was the case here. While Rizal was hunting for such solace, I decided to find some for me too.

The term "whatsoever" means in itself. It really can be "whatsoever". Be it a poem, a writing, a scolding from your best friend, a man-to-man talk with your Dad, or even a moment of frivolous humor with your dearest Mom, or even your own thinking. Let me share one....

We often complain of the things that we don't have and the attention that we don't get. We don't realise how fortunate we are from a multitude of others. Here is a small true story, happening frequently and with probably most of us.

We walk back home from daily chores, tired like hell. Switch on the air conditioner, (the then luxury transformed into a basic need). Lie spread-eagled on a queen size bed with foam mattress. Flick open your smartphones. Gonna check my Facebook for a while. Watch so-and-so celebrity enjoying the weekend on a cruise ship, another one clicking a picture in front of an Eiffel Tower, many others posting photos of their recent parties. Liked every single one of them. But, inside there was a feeling. A not so good one. Rather a question, "Why ain't I that rich?".

Now come friends with their updates. Someone clicked a mirror selfie with a newly purchased iPhone, showing off that trademarked logo, another shot a pic wearing sunglasses at a party with the caption 'Candid', then another updated a status marking 'Checked In' at a popular restaurant. All this time, I would be feeling envious.

Man, I don't own an iPhone, I don't get to go to those expensive restaurants and parties. I don't have such cool sunglasses or clothes. My life is so pathetic.

A few minutes back, while he was walking to his home, a boy about his age, watched him from the window of the restaurant where he cleaned the dishes. "If only I had the luck to study like him...," he wished. Further behind, when he was eating momos with his friends, a little girl on the footpath watched intently as saliva drooled in her mouth. "If only I could get a piece of that wonderful thing. It looks so tasty." Far, far away in a distant land, where in the name of religion, people are killed indiscriminately and "genocide" is a common word, a kid thanked God to keep him and his family safe for another day. Deep in the jungles of Africa, a little girl just wished her days' old hunger to end.

They can't even dream about those things that you are envious of right now. For many of them, survival for just another night is the only motivation they need to stay alive.

No matter where you are, how you are and what you are, peace will never be a permanent guest to you. Even after centuries of hard work and millions of scientific breakthroughs later, you will not find a constant source of happiness. Nor will you ever attain or discover heaven or hell. The only thing that you can do to keep away sorrow and misery is to accept things as they are and not struggle inside your mind for the way things should have been.

In short, "Be content with what you have."

This is a realization that I want to share with the you all. This isn't a deviation from Rizal's story. Everything happening in this world has its meaning, sooner or later.

I found my solace in this to some extent, Rizal would probably too find his, within the span of time he asked for.
